By Anthony DeFranco, Richard Locksley and Miranda Robertson
What reviewers think...

...about Chapter 3

This is really fantastic – one of the best overviews of the roles of complement I have come across. It is very hard to find a good overview that doesn’t get bogged down in all the details – and this succeeds beautifully! For the first time, I felt like the different complement pathways made sense and fit together.
Leslie Berg
University of Massachusetts Medical School

In my opinion it reads well, walking that line between being approachable and informative to the wider scientific readership, but still incorporating recent findings of relevance. In summary, it was a very enjoyable read and I learnt a lot from it.
Steve Gerondakis
Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research

...the authors have managed to explain a potentially difficult topic in simple terms that students/scientists should find interesting and informative.
Michael Carroll
Harvard University Medical School

...about Chapter 5

I was very, very impressed with what I saw. The authors seemed to have achieved the difficult blend of simplicity and detail needed in a text book. The figures are outstanding.
Marc K. Jenkins
University of Minnesota

...about Chapter 8

I like the text very much. The text covers areas not adequately covered in similar texts - overall an excellent job.
Mitch Kronenberg
La Jolla Institute for Allergy and Immunology

...about Chapter 9

The information presented is current and the pictures shown are excellent. The information should be of great interest since it has in the past been difficult to bridge bacterial pathogenesis and immunology.
Patrick Schlievert
University of Minnesota

...about Chapter 10

It is lively and extremely up to date; it covers and immense amount of ground in a relatively short chapter.
Don Ganem
University of California

... about Chapter 11

I think the presentation and overall tenor are great; I can see many people being very keen to obtain a reference work set out like this, it is very well conceived.
Rick Maizels
University of Edinburgh
